IELTS General Training Reading Task 7:
Matching Sentence Endings
For this reading
task, you will be given a list of incomplete sentences and another list of
possible sentence endings. Your task is to match these incomplete sentences to
the correct sentence endings based on reading a given text. The IELTS Reading
Task 7: Matching Sentence Endings measures your ability to understand how the
ideas in the sentences are connected to the main ideas in the reading text.
In order to
successfully accomplish this reading task, here are simple yet effective
test-taking tips that can help you.

Examine the incomplete sentences
Read the
incomplete sentence to understand their main idea. Predict what the endings
might be as you look at each incomplete sentence. Think about what part of
speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, etc.) makes the incomplete sentence
grammatically correct.

Skim the text
Skim the text
and look for words and phrases that are similar or related to the incomplete
sentences. Keep in mind that the order of the list of incomplete sentences is
the same as the order of the information in the text.

List down critical points
List down all
the critical points you found in the text and in the incomplete sentences. Use

Read and
